Welcome to our new blog!

It’s been over 6 years since we started Simon Peter Media and we have come a long way in that time.

Being busy working for customers it’s rare developers have time to work on their own site, but here it is – the new Simon Peter Media site.

We hope to regularly post interesting articles relevant to the work we do and things we care about, as well as keeping you up to date with our latest products and services, challenges and adventures. So stay tuned!

Currently in “lockdown” due to Coronavirus (COVID-19). I wonder what we will think after we are long rid of the disease, when we look back on this time and reflect. So very grateful for our NHS staff and indeed all who work extremely hard and selflessly to look after us and keep things going in this crisis.

This time has affected everyone, and the same is true for Simon Peter Media. However, we are also in a unique situation with a global effort to work together and encourage each other. So much is changing and we can either adapt and change, or just try and weather the storm. We believe that those willing to adapt have the opportunity to thrive, so at Simon Peter Media we are stepping up our game to help businesses grow and flourish through engaging digital solutions.

Wee App Testers

My how they grow!

Here’s a wee pic of the company founders’ kids testing out a beta version of our first ever mobile app – a fun educational flashcard app for children.

We got them and some of their friends together in a room along with smart phones and tablets running our app so they could have a great time together and test out our app for any bugs or usability issues. That was over 6 years ago.

Young children make fantastic testers as they are so much fun being great explorers, have no fear, and are naturally gifted at breaking things*!

* All devices were equipped with shock-proof cases, no children were harmed, and everyone was well fed.

Connected App Framework

Over the years we have worked on a variety of apps and in conjunction with various clients on app projects. One of the main things that we have discovered over this time, is that many small businesses would love to have an app, but a 5-figure price tag is just preventatively expensive.

With that in mind, one of the biggest projects we have been working on is a new framework to make building apps affordable and easily updatable by clients themselves. We call this the Connected App Framework.

Apps are connected to a WordPress backend to securely provide and manage data, and if you’re somewhat familiar with WordPress, you can use those skills yourself with a familiar interface to update your app’s data and appearance. You’re in control!

We plan to offer this as a subscription-based SaaS product, to keep the initial out-lay as low as possible to aid small businesses to achieve the goals and desires at a much quicker rate.

It means you can have a mobile app for your business with no up-front fees and a low monthly subscription! Let us know if this interests you and we’ll keep you updated.

Affordable Optimised Web Hosting

Optimised Hosting with added Security

This is a very exciting new service we have been trialing with a few early-adopting customers, and will launch this very soon!

Through our many years of experience, we’ve noticed that “super-fast web hosting” rarely makes your website perform significantly faster. Simply put, you have to make the best use of your web host, and that often means optimising the software running on it.

We’ve gathered together an impressive knowledge base for running WordPress-based sites efficiently on cloud server systems as our customers have demanded the best. This is especially true for e-commerce sites to avoid cart abandonment and give customers the best possible user experience.

Now, we have the opportunity of offering our expertise as an affordable subscription-based service so you get the benefits of an extremely fast site without breaking the bank. Interested? Do get in touch!
